New Jersey’s Cable Companies Support Jobs and Growth
3/17/2011
The New Jersey Cable Telecommunications Association (NJCTA)
supports the Market Competition and Consumer Choice Act (S2664) currently being
considered in the New Jersey State Senate.
The legislation brings telecommunications laws in New Jersey
into the 21st Century, which will benefit the state by promoting increased
technology investment, job growth, and competition.
As innovations in the telecommunications industry have
expanded and competition in the industry has grown, the antiquated rules and
regulations that govern the industry have not kept pace. Some of these laws were written 100 years
ago, well before things like high-speed Internet, on-demand programming, and
triple-play bundles.
S2664 modernizes the state’s telecommunications laws, allows
the telecommunications industry to create jobs and contribute to New Jersey’s
economy, and protects consumer interests at the federal, state, and local
levels.
